Around where I live in Nigeria, both in Lagos and Ibadan, I get to meet a lot of foreigners. I think I want to prefer the guys from the west to the guys from the east, I mean the guys from the western part of he world to the guys from the eastern parts of the world. At least it has been reported in many parts of the world that racism still exists and people from the western world have at one time or the other enslaved Africans, a group to which I belong. Also this can be said of Arabs and other groups.
Anybody coming to Nigeria as a visitor should definitely by human standards feel superior. People there live like animals and do in fact behave as such. Not having good hearts, which to an acute observer can be deduced from their actions, they rightly behave as animals. In a nation where people do not care about human beings not to talk of them caring for animals ,and people value things more than people, this should not be expressly surprising. The cities are very dirty, there is so much corruption in the land. The so called pastors and men of God are not preaching against the ills of the society, but are preaching about "Prosperity." One would have at least wished they preached about the dirty cities and that people should be responsive citizens. Do not throw litter on the ground,obey traffic rules and regulations,care for your neighbour, be diligent at work, women marry for love and not for money, and so on. But they do not preach these. All what they preach apart from "Prosperity", are things like the congregation should obey the pastor, otherwise, there would be a curse upon them and so on. The hearts of Nigerians are terrible!Nigeria has up to ten magazines on fashion and celebrity life. No single magazine on science and technology, or even carpentry. The people are so concerned about clothes and wearing clothes though there are more important things in life. Didn't Jesus say the body is more important than clothing
Not ever spending little time getting to power, the politicians are already giving themselves fat allowances. The underpriviledged are not cared about. There is no safety net for the mentally sick, not forgetting in actual fact that the whole people are mentally sick. People, though coming from abject poverty, their hearts not being good, cannot think deep and see that being rich as the Bible says also has its disadvantages. You see very beautiful women marrying not so handsome men, just because of money. People pretend to be your friend just because of what they can get from you. Immediately they get what they want, they are no more your friends. People are your friends when they are medical students and are in medical school only to become aloof when they become doctors, just to take an example.In such a situation, others coming from a better society, should they not feel superior seeing the results of the negative tendencies which I have earlier mentioned? Should they not feel superior? This is however not my main thrust.
Around where I live as I have said, there are many foreigners. I can remember greeting up to fifty Chinese in particular. I say the Chinese in particular. Not one of them replied my greeting. This is why I say I prefer the ones from the west, at least they reply you and greet you back and even sometimes stop to talk to you. This now calls to question the policy of Robert Mugabe, who wants to have friendship with the East and has rejected the West. How is he sure he will have better friendship with his so called new "friends"?Those from south Korea, however seem to mix, so I am not condemning all the guys from the east.And on second thought the Chinese might not actually greet because the are shy people. Actually, only God can see the hearts of men.
In the sight of God however I do not think one his superior by his or her intellectual abilities, how good his country is or by the colour of his skin. One is superior, I believe by how much he loves God and his neighbour. One is only superior as far as that goes. You might be more intelligent than me, have more more money and more material possesions, but if I love God more ,and my neighbour more, I am more superior. 1 corinthians 13 is very clear about that. Even it says if I give my body to be burned and have not Charity, "Agape", then I am nothing. Satan has deceived people into thinking because they are of a different skin colour for example, they are superior. Love is actually what makes somone superior. The one loving his neighbour, apart from the love he has and shows for God, is more important than the other, and is more superior. I sometimes wonder why people do not measure superiority by the love they show for others but, for an example, their skin colour or material possesions.
